Lammas: the first harvest's golden offering
Lammas, celebrated in February for our Southern Hemisphere, marks the joyous first harvest of early grains. It's the "cross-quarter" day where the first loaf of bread, baked from the season's bounty, is broken and shared in the name of the Goddess. This is a time to reflect on the year's successes, reward yourself for efforts well made, and prepare for the changes autumn brings. It's about giving thanks for the harvest and saying farewell to the height of summer, preparing for the approaching winter.

Embracing Lammas: rituals and reflections
Lammas magic encourages us to face change. The God gives his energy to the crops, ensuring life, while the Goddess, as Mother, prepares to transform into her Crone aspect. The God loses strength as days shorten. Adorn your space with colours like beige, brown, gold, dark green, yellow, and light green.
Infuse your kitchen with herbs such as fennel, tarragon, rosemary, eyebright, cinnamon, basil, and bay. Traditional symbols include breads, seeds, harvest-type meals, and dried corn.
Honour the Sun God by decorating your home with dried flowers and wreaths.
A heartfelt offering: 'Bless this life, Bless us all, Bread + Fruit I offer Thee.' Bake bread, light candles, create a harvest-inspired meal, and go for a walk in nature.
Deities like Ceres (Demeter) and Tailtiu, mother of Lugh, bless us with agricultural abundance.
Adorn your altar with crystals such as citrine, carnelian, tiger's eye, onyx, and topaz.
Burn incense, flowers, and herbs like chamomile, marigold, poppy, rose, garlic, and cornflower to fully embrace the spirit of Lammas.
